Cesenatico is a historic fishing and seafaring
village located in the heart of the
Romagna Riviera. Even today it preserves a strong
connection with maritime tradition, visible in the life of the
harbor, in the historic architecture and in the fishing culture
that has shaped the history of the town.
The most famous symbol of the town is the
Canal Port, built at the end of the 15th century
based on a design attributed to
Leonardo da Vinci and commissioned by
Cesare Borgia, known as “Il Valentino”. Even
today the port represents the heart of city life: along its banks
fishermen’s boats are moored and there are many restaurants and
traditional trattorias, famous for Romagna seafood cuisine and for
fresh fish from the Adriatic Sea.
In the inner part of the harbor you can find the
Cesenatico Maritime Museum, one of the most
original maritime museums in Italy. Here historic
boats from the Adriatic are preserved and
displayed directly on the water. The colorful hulls and the large
traditional painted sails tell centuries of fishing, navigation
and trade along the Adriatic coast.
In the western area of the village you can still find the
traditional fishermen’s houses. These homes were historically
connected to the families of sailors and fishermen of the town.
The boats belonging to each family were recognizable thanks to the
symbols painted on their sails: graphic signs and distinctive
colors that made it easy to identify the family the boat belonged
to even from a distance.
Just a few steps from the harbor stands the
Marino Moretti House Museum, the home of the
writer and poet Marino Moretti. The house
preserves original furnishings, a library and documents that tell
the life and work of one of the most important figures of Italian
literature of the twentieth century.
Cesenatico is today one of the most appreciated
tourist destinations on the Adriatic coast. Its
sandy beaches and clean sea have
been awarded the Blue Flag for many years, an
international recognition given to seaside resorts with high
environmental standards and quality services.
Walking along the Canal Port, relaxing on the
beach or discovering the flavors of Romagna
cuisine makes every stay an authentic experience.
The Hotel Rondinella is the ideal solution for
those who wish to enjoy a holiday in
Cesenatico among sea, culture
and tradition. Its strategic location makes it easy to reach the
Canal Port, the
Maritime Museum and the main attractions of the
town, offering guests a stay focused on comfort, tranquility and
authentic Romagna hospitality.
The large harbour, the sports facilities and the modern accommodation facilities are all fundamental ingredients of a seaside holiday in Cesenatico, and in the evening, along the banks of the canal harbour, where the fishing boats are moored, you will find the charming atmosphere of times gone by.
Above all though, Adriatic Coast means beaches of
fine and smooth sand, ideal for use as an open-air sports field.
Many are the sports that make use of this natural
setting and the need for equipment is very reduced:
posts, nets, balls, rackets and plenty of
enthusiasm.
The long process of restoration and renovation of the Municipal Theater ended in 1992, and the open Theater of Largo Cappuccini was built. Since then, famous actors and renowned companies have taken the stage in Cesenatico, giving successful performances (from classic and modern music, to prose, to comedy, to dance).
The people of Cesenatico are proud of the wide
green areas, namely the
Levante and Ponente parks, that the town offers
its residents and visitors. They are the ideal places for people
who love a bit of sunbathing immersed in green
surroundings.
In the parks, you can find playgrounds, sport circuits equipped
for different exercises, winding cycle paths, football pitches,
and lush Mediterranean vegetation offering shade and shelter from
heat. The latest feather in the cap for
Cesenatico are the 'Giardini al Mare' (Gardens by
the Sea), an area parallel to the beach with well-groomed
vegetation, water games, playgrounds, sitting areas where to relax
between the blue sky and the green flower beds.
